Fleetwood tram stops to reopen following track upgrades

1 month ago Tue 14th Apr 2026

The latest phase of tram track upgrades in Fleetwood has been completed on schedule, with a full service set to resume tomorrow (Wednesday, April 15).

Over the past few weeks, around 190 meters of track have been rewelded to ensure more reliable and comfortable services on a section of the network between the Fisherman’s Walk stop and Fleetwood Ferry.

Steve Staley, Tramway Operations and Safety Manager at Blackpool Transport, explained: “This essential work, which was suspended over the Easter weekend to enable residents and visitors to make the most of the holiday, has now been completed, but our investment in the network is set to continue.

“Later in the year, we plan to carry out further work on the tracks in Esplanade into Pharos Street and, from there, into North Albert Street.

“This is expected to take place after the busy summer season, and the investment reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering the best possible service to customers.”

The reopening tomorrow of Fleetwood Ferry, Victoria Street and London Street tram stops will see the return of a full tram timetable, with trams from every 15 minutes, with the first tram departing from the ferry stop at 05.55. A full tram timetable can be found here.

“Now that the latest phase of the works is complete, we’d like to thank all our customers for their patience and understanding and look forward to welcoming them back to stops north of Fisherman’s Walk in the morning!” Steve added.

Details of future upgrade works will be released in due course.
