Blackpool Transport is launching a major recruitment campaign as the operator looks to deliver enhanced reliability across its improved bus network.
Over the next couple of months, it aims to take on around 80 new drivers to match the recent boost in service frequency on many Fylde Coast routes.
Jamie Swift, Commercial Director at Blackpool Transport, explained: “The changes to routes, introduced in response to customer feedback, have proved a huge success, but their continued popularity has put additional pressure on our hard-working driver team.
“This has sometimes had an impact on service reliability, and so we need to recruit both Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) licence holders and trainee drivers to sustain current growth and fulfil our ambitious plans for continuous improvement across the network.”
The recruitment campaign will run through October and November, creating rewarding career opportunities for people from a wide range of backgrounds.
Anyone without previous experience can look forward to a salary up to £29,000 plus overtime payments once they become a fully qualified PCV driver. Other benefits include free travel for employees and eligible friends and family, with passes worth up to £2,000, alongside guaranteed hours and job security.
