Blues Skies Hospital Fund Charity Walk
On Sunday 18 August some members of our team are taking part in a charity walk in aid of Blue Skies Hospital Fund who this year, is our company charity.
'Walk the One' is an 11-mile trek along the service 1 bus route from Starr Gate to Fleetwood Ferry and the team are hoping to raise some important funds for the charity.
Who are Blue Skies?
Every year we look to support a local charity by hosting events, volunteering, fundraising and more. Our company charity this year, as voted by our teams is the Blue Skies Hospitals Fund.
Blue Skies Hospitals Fund is the only charity dedicated to enhancing patient care for Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The charity and their supporters help to:
- Enhance the abilities of medical staff through education and training
- Procure the latest medical equipment to diagnose patients rapidly and accurately
- Develop medical research breakthroughs that will benefit future patients
- Improve the environments where patients and visitors are cared for and where staff and volunteers are located
Joining us on the walk is Mr Andrew Duncan, a cardiac surgeon at Blackpool Victoria Hospital who has performed life-saving operations on two of our walkers who, along with their colleagues, are eager to give something back to the wonderful care received by so many and vital funding for further improvements made by the charity.
If you spot our team on Sunday don't forget to give them a wave! We're sure they'll appreciate the support and if you'd like to contribute to Blue Skies Hospital Fund via the walk's JustGiving page you can do that right here - https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/WalkTheOne
