Announcement: 74/75 Routes from August 2024

8 months ago Wed 27th Mar 2024

Our operation of the 74 and 75 bus routes between Preston and Fleetwood will end on 17th August 2024.

These tendered Lancashire County Council routes have been operated by Blackpool Transport since 2020 in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. We are now looking to re-allocate our resources to the core bus network, which has achieved a level of stability since ‘Routes Reimagined’ in January 2024.

For customers who use the 74 and 75 routes, Lancashire County Council will advertise a new tender for other operators to continue the routes.

In the coming months, we will therefore be able to increase the frequency of core services and act on more of your feedback. Let’s take a look at what we’re already doing…

Improvements to the 3 route

You asked and we listened: our 3 route will now run later into the evening! We’re adding two extra trips in to keep the frequency high alongside the 3A.

The terminus point in Cleveleys will also be changing to Victoria Square at Stand D, which will make it easier for you to connect to other services.

We’ll be introducing these two improvements from 14th April 2024, so you can look forward to easier, more frequent travel on our 3 route!

The 1A returns!

From Saturday 30th March, the 1A between Cleveleys and St Annes will be returning to our network!

This hourly service will link with the 1 to create a 30-minute frequency between Cleveleys and Blackpool Town Centre.

Other improvements planned…

With some of our resources being re-allocated to core routes, we’ve got plans in the pipeline for the next 6 months to make more improvements.

Stay tuned as we look to build on the current core network with higher frequencies and push the boat out even further than our 97% punctuality rate.
