All Aboard! Trams to North Station

10 months ago Fri 7th Jun 2024

On Sunday 16th of June 2024, the new tram extension will be open and trams will begin running into North Station.

A digital illustration of a sleek, modern train with a gradient color design. The train features a red and purple color scheme, with large windows along its side. The design is streamlined, reflecting a futuristic aesthetic. The image highlights the train’s smooth lines and vibrant colors.

This is a historic occasion with the last passenger tram up Talbot Road being 88 years ago and is a massive development for Blackpool to connect visitors, commuters, and locals to the heart of our town the minute they step off the train.

With this a new timetable has been created to maximise travel across our network, helping you to conveniently connect from train to tram and vice versa.

You may have noticed our trams recently displaying a letter and number combination on the destination blinds, for example, T1.

This is done In preparation to better inform you as to which tram you'll need to catch for your chosen destination as well as to help reference the correct timetable. The destinations alongside the T1, T2 and T3 indicators will be clearly shown on the destination blinds:

T1 - is the Fleetwood to Starr Gate mainline service. This does not travel to North Station.

T2 - Starr Gate to North Station and North Station to Starr Gate service. This will not travel to Fleetwood. (Journeys in the 'South' section).

T3 - Fleetwood to North Station and North Station to Fleetwood service. This will not travel to Starr Gate (Journeys in the 'North' section).

Trams will run between Fleetwood and Starr Gate every 30 minutes and Fleetwood and North Station every 30 minutes giving you a 15-minute combined frequency between Fleetwood and Blackpool Town Centre.

Trams will also run between Starr Gate and Fleetwood every 30 minutes and Starr Gate and North Station every 30 minutes to continue a 15-minute combined frequency between Fleetwood and Blackpool Town Centre.

We've created a new map below for you to see which stops are in which section.

A map of the tram routes in Blackpool, showing three routes (T1, T2, T3) with their respective stops. The map highlights key locations such as Fleetwood Ferry, North Station, and Starr Gate, with stops like Central Pier, Pleasure Beach, and Gynn Square. Arrows indicate the directions for North and South. The route paths are color-coded in pink, blue, and purple.

To make plans for your trip on our network, you can view our new timetable here.

We have also produced an information leaflet on everything you need to know about the extension, with useful tips on ways to pay, timetables, plus more, check it out here to download your copy!

The leaflet will be available from libraries, tourist information centres and community hubs in the coming week.
