Bus users in Blackpool can look forward to more frequent services, quicker journeys and improved connectivity with the launch of new timetables on Sunday, June 8.

The improvements to services across the Fylde Coast are being made in response to customer feedback and include the creation of two new ‘brands’ to make planning a journey even easier.

The new Cleveleys Connection will see 7A buses running every 12 minutes on weekday mornings to meet peak demand. Meanwhile, on the opposite side of Blackpool town centre - under the banner of the Lytham Lines – the 11, 11A and 11B routes will see more frequent services during the day and into the evenings.

The enhancements follow careful analysis of travel patterns and feedback from members of the travelling public and key stakeholders, including the recent ‘Big Bus Conversation’.

“Our customers spoke, and we listened,” explained Jamie Swift, Head of Service Delivery at Blackpool Transport. “Now we aim to meet their expectations by offering better connectivity between routes and clear branding to help them choose the best service for their journey.

“The additional buses will also be widely welcomed, particularly in the evenings and at weekends, and provide a boost for local businesses and tourist attractions."

“These changes will also encourage even more residents and visitors to make the most of our integrated transport network, reducing congestion and vehicle emissions.”

The wide-ranging route enhancements have been developed in partnership with Blackpool Council and Lancashire County Council, benefiting from HM Government's Bus Service Improvement Plan funding.

Summary of service changes:

Cleveleys Connection 7

The 7 is the most direct bus route between Blackpool and Cleveleys and from 8th June it will be even quicker, with journeys taking just 26 minutes. The 7 will terminate in the town centre on Corporation Street, rather than continuing as the 11A towards Lytham to help us to keep buses running on time. If you normally buy a single fare, you won’t be disadvantaged if you continue to buy a 1-Hour ticket on our mobile app, which is just £3 and can be used to interchange between buses. You can also benefit from our range of day or saver tickets.

Cleveleys Connection 7A

We’re improving the frequency on the 7A during weekday mornings to better help cope with demand, with buses running up to every 12 minutes. During the daytime, buses will then run every 15 minutes.

The Monday to Saturday evening frequency is increasing to every 30 minutes and on Sundays the frequency will be boosted to every 30 minutes during the daytime and every 40 minutes in the evening.

Lytham Lines 11

The 11 will now run every 20 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytimes with departures coordinated with Stagecoach service 68 to deliver a 10-minute frequency along the route.

Evening buses will run every 30 minutes, and Sunday services are also boosted to every 30 minutes all day.

Lytham Lines 11A

We’re making a slight change to the 11A route between Lytham and St Annes to speed up journey times. The route will run direct using Clifton Drive South and along with the 11B, offers an improved service for Clifton Hospital.

The help reduce delays due to congestion, the 11A will now terminate in Blackpool Town Centre instead of continuing as service 7 to Cleveleys. You can interchange to any Cleveleys service 1, 2, 3, 3A, 7, 7A or the Tramway at no extra cost by purchasing a 1-Hour or Day ticket.

Lytham Lines 11B

We’re increasing the daytime frequency on the 11B to every 30 minutes to make planning your journeys much easier. This change means buses from Lytham and St Annes will now run from every 8 minutes when using the 11, 11A or 11B combined.
