A key fixture in Blackpool’s cultural calendar, Capital of Dance attracts thousands to celebrate the town’s rich dance heritage.

This year’s highlights include:

  • Dance Marathon Week from Saturday, 5th to Friday, 11th July. Free daily events on the seafront will conclude with an attempt to break the world record for the largest disco dance on Friday, 11th at 2pm, led by Blackpool’s own Lionel Vinyl.
  • A new production from Sadler’s Wells National Youth Dance Company on Saturday, 5th July. The show will feature three young dancers from Blackpool who were discovered at last year’s festival.
  • Workshops and appearances from Strictly Come Dancing favourites including Giovanni Pernice, Flavia Cacace, Anton Du Beke, Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova and Vito Coppola.
  • A wide range of free and ticketed events including outdoor classes, professional performances and community-led sessions across the town.

Founded by Martin and Marina Blore, and supported by Arts Council England and Blackpool Tourism BID, the festival also runs year-round programmes that use dance to support community wellbeing and reduce social isolation.
