New bus and tram fare structure continues to offer value for money
4 months ago

For the third year running, we are set to freeze the price of our most popular tram and bus tickets as part of a wider review of our fare structure.
While the cost of our adult day ticket will remain at £6.60, from March 1, there will be modest increases to some fares - the first since January 2025.
James Clough, Finance and Commercial Director, explained: “Due to rising operational costs, some fare rises are unavoidable, but we’ve developed a great range of ticket options that continue to deliver excellent value for money.
“We’re also launching a simplified fare structure that will make it easier for customers to find the best value ticket for their journey, whether they are travelling by bus, tram or both.”
While the £2.70 inner-zone single bus ticket is to be discontinued, the standard adult single ticket covering the entire network will remain at £3, in line with the government’s fare cap. The cost of a single ticket for under-16s will increase slightly to £1.80, and there will also be modest rises to other fares for children and young people aged 16 to 19.
Other changes due to be introduced next month include the rebranding of one-hour tickets that enable interchange between Blackpool Transport’s trams and buses. Priced at £3.50, the new £3.50 ‘Hopper’ ticket will also be available to under-16s for just £2.
While season tickets and other multi-trip bundles will also increase in price slightly, they will still offer great value. For example, a 30-day adult unlimited travel pass works out at just £2.74 a day, and there are also savings to be made thanks to a streamlined package of group ticket deals that build on the recent success of the 'Family Saver' offer.
“A decision to raise any ticket prices is never taken lightly but, as we are owned by the local authority rather than a private company, customers can be assured that all revenue goes towards maintaining services and improvements to the network,” James added.
The family day saver will continue at it's current offer price of £10 until Spring.
