Travel During the Illuminations at Weekends
1 month ago
The best light show we all know as Blackpool Illuminations is back this year from 03 September - 03 January. To keep our buses moving smoothly through the town centre, we will need to make some changes to their routes during the busy illuminations period.
This means that during weekends and our busier evenings, your bus services may be diverted and you might need to catch them in a different place as we keep our services away from the promenade and town centre to avoid congestion.
Due to heavy congestion along the promenade during the weekend, services 1, 5, 6, 7, 11 and 17 will divert away from the town centre each Saturday & Sunday during the daytime. You can take a look at how these services will run here.
Evening bus diversions during the illuminations.
Between Friday 03 September - Saturday 25 September our bus services will divert every Friday and Saturday from 19:00 until the end of service.
Between Friday 01 October - Saturday 16 October our bus services will divert every Friday and Saturday from 18:00 until the end of service.
During the half-term (Friday 22 October - Saturday 06 November) our bus services will divert each night from 17:00 until the end of service.
Our trams will run to an increased frequency up to every 7 minutes in the evenings during the Illuminations period. Find the full details of our tram service changes from 29 August here.
Our Service 1 will operate between Fleetwood and Queen St only in the evenings.
