This Remembrance Day will be giving service personnel, their spouses and children, free travel on all Blackpool Transport service buses and trams on production of a Mod 90 service card or veterans badge on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 November.
We have also purchased 100 Poppy lapel pin badges directly from the Royal British Legion to mark the centenary of Armistice Day and we’ll be onboard some buses and trams in the week leading up to Remembrance Sunday, handing these out to our customers.
Our bus drivers and tram conductors will also be performing their own acts of kindness throughout Sunday as they will be gifting free travel passes to some of our customers.
Jane Cole, Managing Director at Blackpool Transport said “As a company we are passionate about showing respect for the heroes that fought and continue to fight for our freedom and safety. We want to remove any barriers for veterans or service personnel to attend any services across the Fylde Coast by providing free travel for them, and their family, as a small gesture of respect and appreciation for their great efforts”.
You may have noticed that we are currently displaying large poppies on board our buses and trams already and on Remembrance Sunday at 11:00am we will be stopping services and turning off engines as a mark of respect during the two-minute silence.
