Extra trams ready for the lluminations
As the world famous Blackpool Illuminations prepare to burst into light, we’re again increasing our tram frequency, running more trams, more often.
From Sunday 30 August, trams will run up to every 10 minutes with services running later into the evenings every Friday and Saturday.
Following the pandemic, our services have been gradually rebuilding to provide services for residents and visitors across the Fylde coast. So that we can safely carry our customers during the illuminations, we’ll be using all of our available resources during the busier evenings.
During the daytime, trams will run every 20 minutes before 7am, and every 15 minutes between 7am and 6pm.
Then as the lights shine in the evenings, our frequency will increase further, running up to every ten minutes and with special extra services complementing the main timetable. This means that we’ll be running as many trams as we possibly can during the illuminations period.
During what will be a very busy period for the resort, we ask all of our customers for their assistance in regard to maintaining the safety of those travelling on board.
You must do your bit to keep everybody safe and only board our trams if there is space to do so.
If our onboard team think a service is full to a safe capacity, the tram will display a ‘tram full’ sign at the front and sides.
If the tram shows this, please do not try to board and wait for the following tram. Our service 1 bus runs parallel to the tramway and can be used as an alternative, you can find the timetable for the service 1 here.
Some trams might also run on a limited stop basis, so that customers further along the line are able to board. This will only be during our peak periods and will mostly be the case with our extra services, so your timetabled trams will mostly run as normal.
Your help with this makes sure customers have enough space to maintain social distancing on board and keeps both you and them, as safe as possible.
Please also remember that if you are able to, you must wear a face covering whilst using any of our services. You can find more information about face coverings and also exemptions to this, here.
Fancy seeing the illuminations in a completely unique way? Our Heritage Tram tours will be running their exceptional Illuminations Tour between 04 September and 03 January. These popular tours are a hit with all the family and you must pre book your space. You can do this by heading here.
